Junior Day

Thursday 5th August 2010

The Junior Day offers opportunities for young recorder players at three different levels, according to age and experience. The emphasis throughout the day will be on enjoying your music-making with other enthusiastic recorder players, and taking your recorder playing to the next level!

Junior Level One

9.30am - 12.30pm
£15 (includes admittance to the lunchtime concert for participant and one adult)

Suitable for children under 11 years of age who are just starting out on the recorder (grades 0 - 1). This morning-only session will focus on developing your basic recorder skills and having some fun playing in a group. The ability to read some basic music notation would be useful, but isn’t essential.

Junior Level Two

9.30am - 4.30pm
£40 (includes admittance to the lunchtime concert for participant and one adult)

Suitable for young recorder players under 16 years of age who can read music and are playing at approximately grades 2 - 4 standard. During the day you’ll enjoy playing in an ensemble with musicians of similar age and ability, in a range of different musical styles. Learn about and have a go on some larger (and smaller!) members of the recorder family.

Junior Level Three

9.30am - 5.30pm
£45 (includes admittance to the lunchtime concert for participant and one adult)

Level Three is aimed at recorder players at grade 5 and above, under 18 years of age. You’ll get an opportunity to perform a solo piece in a mini-masterclass, and play in a one-to-a-part ensemble, working with other young people of similar age and experience.
