For recorder players aged 16-25, who have achieved a minimum standard of approximately Grade 8, Woodhouse Recorder Week offers a fully residential course.
This is the ideal opportunity to realise your full recorder playing potential, whether you are only just thinking about college or university or have already completed some postgraduate study. With a range of classes suited to all abilities, led by a world-class team of professionals, we can offer you a tailor-made course of study. Within the perfect artistic environment Woodhouse has to offer, you will enjoy a warm and encouraging atmosphere in which to work and develop your skills.
Activities Daily classes in technique and solo performance will be supplemented with historical seminars, meieval and renaissance class, masterclasses with Dan Laurin, baroque chamber music, careers advice, and even a night hike to the top of Holmbury Hill! See the Events page for more details.
Attainment levels and repertoire To get the most out of the course, applicants should be playing at a level at least equivalent to Grade 8 of the main UK examinations boards or higher. Although there is no set repertoire on the course you should try to prepare two or three different pieces, ready to perform and work on in class.

Students on the full time course stay in Felbury House, a superbly equipped private hostel only a short walk from Woodhouse Copse. Felbury's two and three bed rooms all have ensuite facilities. Holmbury St Mary also boasts several excellent pubs, all within walking distance.
